TERRITORIO 2.3.74 - I
We worked with paper pulp for the first time a few years ago. We were testing ways of optimising the recycled paper until we achieved an almost clay-like pulp that allowed us to coat with texture shapes that a priori were flat and lacked volume. We managed to come up with a very, very resistant material, completely recycled. Applying it manually and being able to work with volume was exactly what we wanted at this moment. Transferring an image of a solid body, of territory, like a shield, concentric, ritual and alive, whose forms were blurred after the application of the material. For us, the result is a play of light and shadow, of heights and textures that suggests that ritual, archaic, interstellar and unknown territory, while at the same time being so close.
To create the volumes and textures on these pieces made of wood, we used paper paste. We made it with a mixture that we arrived at a few years ago which, with very thin layers of material, creates a very, very resistant body and its application is so simple that it can practically be done with a brush, covering the straight lines that we have previously cut in wood and that we progressively thicken so that the piece acquires that organic, malleable and sinuous appearance, as if it were a map of the terrain. It is not intended to be a reflection of a territory, a model or a representation of anything. It is the volume of the concentric, which can envelop and enclose our own thoughts within this form.
A territory where limits are blurred and reality is mixed with reverie; a frontier where space-time is diluted and past, present and future are mixed as a reality that resembles the similar and that forms part of our imaginary without having been seen before... It is in this liminal zone where once again the pieces of this collection "INTERZONA" created by Las Ánimas are located.
Works that speak of parallel worlds, of shamanic futurism and that oscillate between popular culture and a ritual world, on a thin line between the rational and the dreamlike. Objects that seek to trigger subconscious and collective memory with a totemic and ceremonial character.
An aesthetic universe full of sumptuousness, textures, volumes, colours, mysticism and concentric forms that seek to expand consciousness and make the mind wander on an inner journey without beginnin.

Las Animas
COLLECTIBLE FUNCTIONAL ART LAS ÁNIMAS (before: Antoñito y Manolín) are Trini Salamanca and Pablo Párraga, a creative duo founded and established in Seville, Spain. Their work has a strong symbolic, mystical, tribal and esoteric component, and moves on the frontiers between art and design. Using a language of minimalist, geometric and iterative patterns, they experiment with the materials, their forms and textures, to create an iconography of retrofuturist, transgressor, brutalist and deeply evocative aesthetics. The couple’s visual and emotional universe includes references as distant as science fiction, anthropology, the distortion of reality, cybernetics, duality, experimental electronic music, or architectural brutality; an imaginary that joins the elements of their social environment, recoding and projecting them from an atypical and personal insight. Their corpus includes limited edition pieces of furniture, sculptures, interventions and unique objects. TOTEMS, designed and created by themselves in their own studio, that challenge functionality and form; a symbolic Aesthetics dimension full of emotions that lead to a spiritual atmosphere lost in time.
