Karel Hladik (27 June, 1912 - le 27 April, 1967) is a Czech sculptor and university professor - Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.
He began as a stonemason, then studied sculpture in Hradec Kralove, then at the School of Applied Arts in Prague Jan Lauda. In 1945 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, Karel Pokorny, where after graduation he became a professor.
His work is present in the collections of the National Gallery of Prague. It is known for its Franz Kafka commemorative plaque. He is famous for a series of characters based on the works of Alois Jirasek. He was also an excellent portraitist, he created a series of portraits of artists such as actor Jaroslav Pruchy, conductor Vaclav Talich, painter Karel Soucek, actor Zdenek Stepanek or the painter Miloslav Sainte.
In the later period of his career, he devoted himself to sculpture.
