Alfonso Bini Firenze Italian Carved Head Orange Squeezer
About the Item
A very stylish and unusual vintage Italian Firenze blonde wood orange or grapefruit squeezer modelled as a man’s head by renowned Italian wood carver Alfonso Bini and made around 1970.
The large head is made in three pieces and is formed with a Pinocchio style long nose forming the handle to the squeezer. The head, in two parts has a wooden pegged opening mouth carved with a series of teeth like rounded pegs which come together to squeeze the fruit. The juices run out of the back of the head and onto a collar base with a groove which runs to the front. The collar is attached to head by two large screws and a container would need to be placed under the front to collect the extracted juice. The head is polished with two small covered and blackened eyes with the mouth forming the opening for the juice squeezer. The squeezer is not marked.
Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market.
In good condition with signs of use to the internal squeezer and with light age wear to the base.
