About the Item
Sculpture of a lady in majolica ceramic modeled and painted in polychrome, created by Tarcisio Tosin in the 1950s
Ø 21 cm Ø 15 cm h 18 cm
Tarcisio Tosin is a name that evokes a golden age of Italian ceramics. His creations, characterized by refined elegance and originality, have become unmistakable icons of 20th century design.
Born in 1904, Tosin stands out for his artistic versatility. His production ranges from small sculptures to large wall panels, passing through everyday objects such as vases and plates.
Tosin prefers simple and linear shapes, enhancing the purity of the raw materials; the artist uses exclusively high quality clays, worked with skill to obtain unique results.
His works are often decorated with colored enamels and geometric or floral motifs, created with great skill.
Despite the formality of his works, Tosin manages to convey a profound emotion, a vital energy that involves the viewer.
A key moment in Tosin's career was his direction of the "Borromeo" factory in Isola Bella, on Lake Maggiore. In this period, the artist experimented with new techniques and developed a personal style, characterized by a strong connection with nature and the desire to create objects that were both functional and beautiful.
