About the Item

Four painted clay sculptures by Ceramist Solrac, made and decorated by hand. They represent figures from Portuguese society, a newspaper vendor, a grape harvester, a hunter and the Marquis of Pombal. Polychrome decoration with realistic detailing. The newsboy wears a long red coat, yellow vest, dark pants and yellow shirt. With a determined expression and an upright posture, he holds a bag with newspapers over his shoulder and a newspaper in his left hand. The harvester, with its wrinkled face and arched eyebrows, conveys not only the physical but also the emotional weight of the load it carries. She holds a basket of grapes tightly over her head, reinforcing the physical effort. The yellow shirt and red sash around the waist add a contrast of colors that draws attention to the character. The hunter, dressed in a blue coat with gold buttons, a wide hat and white trousers, holds a bag on his left and a gun on his right side, with a contemplative, almost melancholic expression. One is Signed.
