A wonderful and detailed French 19th century Biscuit de Sèvres statuary of "Enfant à la cage" after Jean-Baptiste Pigalle. This high quality piece made by Sèvres is after the original statue on display in The Louvre, Paris. The statue is raised by a rectangular base with cut corners. A very charming child is seated with an open bird cage. He is resting his right hand under his chin and displays beautiful detail throughout.

Jean Marie Gilles, Jeune (Active1837-1868) was one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality biscuit porcelain in the 19th century. He was the official porcelain supplier to the wife of Napoleon III. Empress’ Eugenie, countess of Teba (Eugenia Maria de Montijo de Guzman, 1826-1920).
