About the Item

Lady and the Bee From our Bronze Sculpture collection, we are delighted to offer this beautiful French Bronze Sculpture by Eutrope Bouret. The Sculpture modelled in bronze with a superb patination features a seated maiden upon a raised stepped plinth base. The maiden is seated upon a large rocky column bearing a water pail to one hand as she leans back in shock as a bee lands on a wheat sheaf her knee. The Bronze Figure is signed to the lower third Bouret for French sculptor Eutrope Bouret (1833-1906). A lovely romantic example featuring a maiden and bee, the French Bronze Sculpture by Eutrope Bouret dates to the second half of the 19th century circa 1875 belle époque. EUTROPE BOURET (1833-1906) was a French sculptor born in Paris, France known for his finely detailed bronze statues and in particular those depicting allegorical, mythological, and historical figures. Bouret flourished during the 19th century and he exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon and gained recognition for his skill in capturing movement, expression, and intricate details in his works. Bouret’s sculptures often reflected the popular Neoclassical and Romantic styles of the period, showcasing themes of beauty, elegance, and idealised human forms. His works remain sought after by collectors and can be found in museums and private collections worldwide.
