Hyperrealistisch bronzen tray

About the Item

Daniel Spoerri, pseudonym of Daniel Isaak Feinstein, born March 27, 1930 in Galați (Romania) and died November 6, 2024 in Vienna (Austria), is a Swiss visual artist of Romanian origin. He is one of the most important representatives of object art, co-founder of the New Realism artist collective and is considered the inventor of Eat Art. He is best known for his "trap paintings", a type of assemblage in which he captures a group of objects, such as the remains of meals consumed by individuals, including plates, silverware and glasses, which are fixed to the table or to the painting, which is then fixed to a wall. He is also distinguished for his book, Topographie anecdotée du hasard, a literary analogue of his trap images, in which he mapped all the objects located on his table at a given moment, describing each with his personal memories evoked by the object.
