ABOUT
Musha Ningyō (武者人形)- Literal meaning: "Warrior Dolls". Musha Ningyō are super interesting and culturally rich! Musha Ningyō are traditional Japanese dolls that represent samurai warriors, military generals, or legendary heroes from Japanese history, folklore, and mythology. They're often elaborate, richly detailed, and dressed in miniature suits of armor or battle attire, sometimes complete with weapons and banners. Families with boys set up displays with Musha Ningyō to wish for strength, bravery, and health for their children. These dolls are a form of ningyō art—traditional Japanese doll-making with roots in Edo Period (1603-1868). Crafted with silk, wood, paper, lacquer, and metal detailing. The best ones are real masterworks and highly collectible.
