Sculpture of Saint Paul, an ancient statue Ancient statue of Saint Paul from the 17th century Large sculpture depicting Saint Paul, from the 1600s, carved in solid Walnut wood. Origin: Venice The garment is entirely lacquered and gilded with gold leaf, still retaining its skin tone and a large portion of the gilding. The dimensions suggest that the statue was likely placed high or at an elevated level compared to the viewers' perspective.
