A Mermaid Statuette by R.Lalique

About the Item

The Mermaid belongs to the Car Mascots R.Lalique introduced in the 1920tys . As the luxury car industry was vastly moving forwards, the sculptors decided to adorn the motors of the cars with a symbolic bronze or metal statue. R.Lalique followed this path with glass and realized beautiful car mascots with a strong symbolic sens . This is one of his very first ones . The statuette is in white glass with a light grey patina and signed in hand written lettres .
