Painting sculpture by Luís Pinto Coelho, in tile. Composed of two cut and painted tiles, mounted on a transparent acrylic base, it represents a stylized horse in shades of blue and white with geometric details and a shield in the center. The knight is identified by his wide hat, profile face and blue and yellow suit, also with geometric lines. Both elements form part of a continuous but distinguishable composition. The signature "Pinto-Coelho" and numbering 95/125 are in the lower left corner, indicating the edition.
Luís Pinto-Coelho or Luís Pinto Coelho, full name Luís Braamcamp Freire Pinto Coelho (Lisbon, Santa Isabel, January 26, 1942 - Madrid, November 4, 2001), was an internationally renowned Portuguese painter who lived in Spain. Over the course of 4 decades, he produced a vast and diverse body of work and stood out at one stage in his career as a famous portrait artist.
