A fine antique Japanese bronze statue. Depicting a woman holding a teapot and sickle in one hand while carrying her baby on her back with the other hand. The laughing baby is tugging on the ear of his gently smiling mother. The piece has a rich chocolate brown patina throughout. Signed to the reverse of the plinth. The scythe is removable. Likely from the Meiji Period (1868-1912). Simply a wonderful Japanese bronze sculpture! Date: Early 20th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition with some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
