About the Item

"laveuse" attributed to P-Auguste Renoir: patinated bronze on a green marble base, of a kneeling woman Sculpture signed "Renoir" and "Alexis Rodier Fondeur Paris" Famous painter, Pierre-Auguste Renoir tried his hand at sculpture late in life, from 1909. It was between 1913 and 1918 that Renoir, suffering from hand problems, produced most of his sculpted work with the help of Richard Guino, a sculptor of Catalan origin and student of Maillol. In this collaboration, Renoir chose a figure or scene in his paintings that could be transposed into sculpture; Guino modeled the small model and submitted it to the master.
