Pair of Angels on Carved Base from the 1700s

About the Item

Pair of Carved Wood Putti on Carved Base from the 1700s are two naked cherubs covered only by their golden loincloths; apparently two heralding angels without wings, they stand on tiptoes with a sinuous posture and with their arms outstretched to indicate the main subject of the original decorative apparatus. They rest on two beautiful carved and shaped Baroque bases with two faces of winged angels in the center. These two antique sculptures come from a private collection in Milan, are from northern Italy, and date from the first half of the 1700s; they are in good condition with minor flaws in the gilding and the lacquering of the bodies, which were taken up later, two small phalanges in the right hand of an angel are missing.     Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. good state of preservation with minor faults in the gilding. The lacquering of the bodies has been taken up posteriorly; two small phalanges are missing in the right hand of one angel.
