About the Item

A stunning and high quality true pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated Bronze, Ormolu and Gris St. Anne marble statues of Mercury and Fortuna, after a model by Louis Guillaume Fulconis. The band displays charming richly chased cherubs playing and sculpting statues. Above and below the recessed band are additional and decorative beaded bands. Above are the patinated Bronze statues of Fortuna and Mercury with Ormolu accents. Mercury is standing on an Ormolu gust of wind blown by Zephyrus and holds an Ormolu flute. Fortuna is standing on the same while holding another Ormolu flute. Louis Guillaume Fulconis - A French sculptor born in 1818.
