Warrior #2 White Ceramic and Brass Figurative Sculpture
About the Item
Artist’s Statement – Warriors Ceramic Collection - White ceramic, Brass.
The Warriors collection is the second body of work by Roché Dry, created in her Lisbon studio. This 17-piece series draws inspiration from both literal and metaphorical warriors, reflecting the armor we construct—physically and emotionally—to navigate life’s challenges. Through these forms, the collection explores themes of protection, strength, and resilience while embracing the beauty of imperfection.
Each warrior figure is adorned with nodes, symbolizing the armor we carry in our daily lives, both seen and unseen. The pieces are crafted in ivory clay, contrasted with bold blood-red glazing—a stark reminder that we all bear wounds, and every warrior is climbing their own mountain.
The brass headpieces reference traditional tribal headdresses but also represent our dreams. Each warrior carries their own aspirations, depicted in gold to emphasize their value and fragility. At birth, we all possess dreams—no one is born yearning for conflict, whether internal or external. The Warriors collection serves as a tribute to this shared human experience, honoring both struggle and hope.

Egg Designs
Founded by South Africans Greg and Roche Dry, Egg is a unique perspective in contemporary furniture, with a spirit that’s deeply rooted in Africa. We believe Egg has a distinctive African design dialect. We dream that our products will not be judged only by their function and form, but by the beauty of their eternal narrative. In everything we create we must answer the question, “Is it Egg enough?” Egg is an amalgamation of heritage, passion, meaning and African soul. It stands the test of time. It’s curiosities that make you smile. Its love and truth that can be seen from afar, and equally found in the minutest details. That’s why every piece we craft comes from Africa and carries within it a part of the African identity. We’re a melting pot of tribal craft, European heritage and modern luxurious expression. “If it’s not Egg enough, it’s not worth doing!” We have widened the prism of contemporary African design by creating Modern Collectibles, high end Furniture & lighting, as well as bespoke interiors inspired by an African provenance for a modern, international customer.

Ceramic Figurative Sculpture by Akio Takamori Published
By Akio Takamori
Located in Atlanta, GA
A large figurative ceramic sculpture entitled by Akio Takamori (1950 - 2017) created in 2004. Stoneware with hand-painted surface, the sculpture depicts a half-naked standing boy figure with his hands in praying position. His berobed lower body, interestingly, morphed into a highly sculptural form. The scarlet color drapery with black stripes swells and coils into shapes that resembles breasts, echoing the statue's young age. The figure was apparently based on Prince Shotoku (574-622AD), a semi-legendary regent of the Asuka period...
