About the Item

17th century Italian candlestick with aquamarine. The candlestick is from originally from a church in Florence. It hand-carved and hand-painted with hints of pale greenish-hues showing through. The aquamarine in matrix is mounted on top and perfectly coordinates with the candlestick. A shell is placed near the base and an aquamarine point replaces a missing third leg of the artifact. The piece is put together by Jean O'Reilly Barlow, the artist and creative director of Interi. The date of manufacture reflects when she created the piece and the period shows that the candlestick is originally 17th century. The Italian church artifact and natural elements are put together in a sculptural form - creating a piece that appears to have evolved together over time. Interpreting the past to create a piece entirely original, evolving in its own right.
