About the Item

A magnificent 1930s taxidermy specimen of a Common buzzard with outstretched wings in a large ebonized museum cabinet. This bird has been cleverly captured in an animated pose complete with its kill stood on an artificial rock bearing original label. “Namn: Ormuråk Buteo buteo Fyndort: Västbo ås 1937. Konservator G. Brodén, Skinnarlyngen.” Roughly translated as Common Buzzard Buteo buteo found in the Västbo, Sweden in 1937. Buteo is a genus of medium to fairly large, wide-ranging raptors with a robust body and broad wings. The wingspan of this particular male buzzard is an impressive 96cm. The common Buzzard (Buteo buteo) is listed on CITES Appendix II Annex A. This piece will come with a CITES Certificate.
