Camptosaurus Dinosaur Metatarsal

About the Item

This exceptional metatarsal from Camptosaurus, a plant-eating dinosaur of the Late Jurassic, offers a rare opportunity to own a genuine piece of paleontological history. Camptosaurus roamed North America over 145 million years ago. This fossil comes out of the Big Horn Basin in Wyoming, part of the famous fossil-rich Morrison Formation, and was excavated on June 14, 2010. This Camptosaurus metatarsal measures an impressive 10.5" with superbly preserved surface definition. This fossilized foot bone exhibits rich coloration and natural mineralization with excellent textural contrast across the shaft and articular ends. This robust metatarsal served as a structural support in the animal’s hind foot, offering strength and mobility, and is a standout acquisition for discerning collectors or educators seeking a scientifically significant and display-worthy dinosaur fossil.
