About the Item
Rare Agate Specimen: A Unique Agate Geode Slice where a Calcite
▫️ Description
This gallery-grade specimen showcases a natural interplay between calcite and agate. Initially, the calcite formed in an aesthetically pleasing twin formation, and over time, agate gradually took shape around it, framing it perfectly. The result is a visually stunning specimen that highlights nature's ability to craft intricate, layered works of art.
Calcite is a very stable mineral; in this case, it formed before the agate and is now effectively sealed off by the surrounding agate. Essentially, the natural processes that formed these minerals ensure that the calcite remains intact, preserving its beauty almost indefinitely.
The agate layers appear primarily as blue laces, with some bandings featuring white tones. Crowning it all, a layer of intense purple crystals has found its way to the center, adding a sparkling quality to the specimen.
It is important to note that this agate geode remains in its purest form, with no treatments applied.
An outstanding specimen, this lace agate is sure to be an amazing addition to your crystal collection. Check out the photos for more details, and feel free to send us a message if you have any questions or specific requests. 🤍
You may be wondering, how were the laced agate layers formed?
It's truly fascinating: agates normally form inside bubbles or cavities of igneous (volcanic) basalt and, over time, are filled with layers of water with high concentrations of silica. The water is slowly evaporated, forming a layer of silica gelatin and then a layer is formed. It is a very slow process and each layer contained different impurities, thus forming different colored bands. Fantastic, right?

Natural Agate Slice with Stunning Banding Patterns, Natural and Undyed
▫️ Description
With an extraordinary growth pattern, this agate slice defies logic, leading to an intriguing question: How could a crystal layer develop between the agate's natural bandings? This one-of-a-kind, high-grade piece is a genuine form of geological art, the perfect gift for an Agate lover, or the piece to start conversations as a decorative masterpiece.
The natural drawings first started as a dark green banding, which evolved into blue and white agate laces. After these laces, a geological miracle occurred, where a layer of amethyst crystal formed, adding hints of clear quartz and purple to the geode, leaving us to wonder how it came to be. To crown it all, in the final stages of its evolution, blue lace agate formed, allowing only white layers to develop in its center.
It is all-natural, with the perfect, delicate lines growing intact, this piece is a true natural artwork. We decided to display it in a custom-made stand, enabling you to enjoy both sides of this specimen.
You might wonder, "How did the blue lace layers form?" Agates usually develop in volcanic basalt cavities, filled over time with silica-rich water that leaves behind layers as it evaporates. While this explains the colorful bands, the crystal layer between the agate layers remains a mystery. Fascinating, isn't it?
Check out the photos and feel free to send us a message if you have any questions or specific requests. 🤍
