About the Item

Exceptional specimen of malachite freeform on stand. Malachite is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral. It is often found in nature together with the related azurite. Malachite was worked as a gemstone from early times. In ancient Egypt it was made into cameos, amulets and ornaments. The Greeks and Romans in classical antiquity knew malachite.
