Wooden Japanese 18th Century Nio Guardian Figure


A large and dramatic muscled Nio guardian figure. Nio figures were placed outside Buddhist temples as protectors against evil spirits and to keep the temple free of demons and thieves. This figure stands on a custom stand. It is 32 inches high including the stand.
