19th Century French Dark Green & Black Glazed Salt Pot

About the Item

This antique French earthenware jug, with its dark green and black glaze, dates from the 19th century, and would originally have been used to store salt. Featuring four handles and a pouring spout, this large, hand-thrown jug is in vintage condition. Originally a utilitarian kitchen object, well used in a French country kitchen. It displays beautifully, perfect with a bouquet of flowers or used in the kitchen to hold utensils. It would also look fabulous in a grouping with other pots of various sizes.
