Antique 19th Century Victorian Copper Planter

About the Item

An antique Victorian copper planter dating to circa 1850. Originally known as a ‘copper', this handmade piece has a lightly patinated surface creating a striking shine to the copper. During the Victorian period, coppers acted as washing boiler pans found in grand homes. Housed in a brick structure, the pots were in the scullery or washing outhouse with a fire grate below to heat the water for washing. Today, this mid 19th century piece could be used as a stylish log basket or striking planter thanks to its practical size and handsome design.
