About the Item
Organic Modern ceramic bowl named “RYMDEN” or “SPACE” by master ceramist Carl Harry Stålhane for DesignHuset Sweden 1980s. Deep blue glossy glaze with medallions of off white with brown decoration and gun metal greenish gray freeform designs of dots and stylized flowers. The outer space with deep blue glaze melding into a red-brown brick background and a band of gun metal over the area where the two colors meet. Signed on the bottom with the Designhuset logo, Stålhane’s full signature, RYMDEN and 52-200. Comes with certificate.
In 1973 Stålhane left Rorstrand and started Designhuset. The company produced a series of unique art ceramics as well as simpler wares for the home. In Designhuset, Stalhane creations had spontaneous, calligraphic decoration on porcelain and stoneware. It ran as a commercial enterprise from 1973 to 1988. Stalhane is one of the most important and innovative ceramic artists and designers in Sweden during the 20th century.
