About the Item

An exquisite pair of mid-19th century French porcelain urns by the celebrated Jacob Petit, one of the most imaginative and renowned porcelain artists of his time. These stunning covered urns showcase Petit's signature blend of Rococo revival elegance and artistic brilliance, capturing the refined sensibilities of the French decorative arts during the Romantic era. Each urn is masterfully hand-painted with idyllic landscape scenes, depicting serene rivers, arched bridges, leafy trees, and charming village settings. The artwork is executed with remarkable detail and fluid brushwork, framed by ornate borders and enriched with delicate pastel tones. The round urn-shaped bodies feature gently flared necks, twin scrolled side handles, and sit gracefully on circular bases. The surfaces are further adorned with finely applied porcelain flowers, enhancing their sculptural appeal and decorative richness. The urns are each marked “Jacob Petit” on the underside, confirming their authenticity and origin from Petit's celebrated Parisian workshop. Known for his theatrical forms and painterly decoration, Petit remains one of the most collectible names in 19th-century French porcelain. Both pieces are in great antique condition, with only minor wear consistent with age and gentle use. A true collector’s pair—elegant, rare, and brimming with Old World charm. Each one measure Approx. 16" high x 9.25" wide x 6.75" deep These urns make a magnificent statement whether displayed on a mantel, console, or as part of a curated porcelain collection—timeless works of art that celebrate the golden age of French porcelains.
