French 19th Century Louis XV St. Brèche Violette Marble and Ormolu Urn
About the Item
An exceptional French 19th century Louis XV st. Brèche Violette marble and ormolu urn. The impressive urn/trophy is raised by a square ormolu base with concave corners and decorative recessed hammered designs. The socle shaped pedestal support displays a fine wrap around fluted foliate ormolu band and superb seashell like foliate ormolu movements with stunning scrolled handles leading up each side in a rich satin and burnished finish. The beautifully shaped Brèche Violette marble body displays a curved neck with a fine wrap around foliate band below the removable lid with a unique and extremely decorative pomegranate and floral finial.
