French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Belle Époque Period Garniture Set

About the Item

A striking French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period ormolu, silvered bronze and Rouge Griotte marble garniture set. The garniture set is comprised of three pieces with the two side pieces raised by elegant topie shaped ormolu feet below elegant block rosettes and fitted ormolu plaques with lovely intertwined designs at the Rouge Griotte marble base. Above are intricately detailed cherubs draped in wonderfully executed flowing garments while holding up urns above their heard. The silvered bronze urns above each display a lovely foliate and water flora designed wrap around band with fine ormolu mottled bands and charming richly chased birds perched on the handles at each side. At the center is the stunning bust of a beautiful young maiden draped in a fine garment with a ribbon over her shoulder and a floral wreath in her hair. The bust is raised by an exceptional Rouge Griotte marble base with an elegant curved design and the same ormolu mounts as the side pieces. A Garniture de Chemineé in the Louis XVI taste By Arnold & Lewis (late Simmons) The mantle clock, and its two matched vases, are constructed in jewelled 'Sèvres' style porcelain, hand and polychrome decorated, with gilt highlights and finely gilt bronze.
