About the Item

Mid-19th Century Worcester Porcelain Tankard with Rose Pompadour Ground, Floral Reserve A fine English porcelain tankard attributed to Grainger & Co., Worcester, dating to circa 1850–1860. This richly decorated piece features a striking rose pompadour ground with a central cartouche finely hand-painted with an exuberant bouquet of summer flowers, including roses and cornflowers, framed within elaborate raised gilded scrollwork. The elegantly scrolled handle is detailed with additional gilding, and both rim and foot are finished with gilt bands. The form and decorative treatment are characteristic of mid-19th century Grainger Worcester, though the piece is unmarked to the base, as was typical for many of their wares from this period. Dimensions: Height: 10 cm Diameter: 10 cm (body) Width (including handle): 13.5 cm Condition: Very good antique condition. No chips, cracks, or restoration. Minor surface wear to the pink ground and light wear to gilding, consistent with age and use. A fine example of early Victorian porcelain, suitable for collectors of English ceramics or as a decorative accent.
