About the Item

A stunning and most unique pair of French 19th century Renaissance st. Ormolu, patinated Bronze and Green Antique marble potpourri urns. Each attractive urn is raised by three slender Ormolu legs with foliate decorations on the shaft, a pair of feet at the plinth, and a maiden bust at the capital. The three Ormolu legs surround an urn shaped reserve in the center topped with a flame and supported on a triangular Green Antique marble base with concave sides and cut corners. The three Ormolu legs present the patinated Bronze potpourri urn above which is decorated with a reeded Ormolu bottom finial placed below a foliate decorated frame. The mid section of the urn displays a circular Ormolu band of scrolling, foliate, dentil and egg and dart patterns. The removable patinated Bronze lids showcases star shaped openings for the incense to emit into the room. The top crown of each urn contains a flaming torch representing the flame within creating the finely scented smoke arising out of the star shaped openings.
