About the Item

A handsome and high quality pair of French 19th century Renaissance st. patinated Bronze and Ormolu urns. This wonderful pair of lidded urns are raised on circular bases with an Ormolu outer band and foliage amidst the patinated Bronze background. The gadroon socle leads to the richly decorated urn above. The urn is wonderfully decorated with flying maidens embracing playful cherubs around them, while holding grape vines and glasses of wine. On each side of the urn are twisted and scrolled handles with grapes vines throughout. Above is the removable lid decorated with an outer band of grape vines with a patinated Bronze background. The upper portion of the lid displays a fluted design leading to the central finial of a cheerful Putti with a grape vines wrapped around his waist and in his hair. He is standing proudly while raising his glass in the air in a form of a salute.
