About the Item
An Art Decó 1930's French sandblasted smoked glass vase by Jean Luce. The geometric designs of rectangles and circles are marked by the sandblasted background. The vase's upper edge shows rests of its original golden mark.
Jean Luce (1895 - 1964) was a French glass and ceramics designer. He began working at his father's ceramic crockery workshop. He began showing his works in the Autumn Salons organized by the Société des Artistes Décorateurs. By 1923, he founded his own workshop. His participation in many important international expositions as a juror and curator allowed him to earn important positions in the decorative art industry. He was a teacher at the École des Arts Appliqués in Paris and a technical advisor for Sèvres.
