19th Century Large Faience Vase From Viuva Lamego Factory

This is a large 19th-century faience vase, manufactured by the renowned Viúva Lamego factory in Portugal, as indicated by the mark "V.L. Made in Portugal" on the interior. Beautifully hand-painted in cobalt blue on a white background, this piece features intricate decorative motifs, including floral garlands, foliage, and stylized faces, creating a rich and ornate design. The vase showcases exquisite craftsmanship typical of Portuguese faience from this period, with influences from classical and baroque styles. The sculptural elements, such as the face adorned with flowers, give it a unique character. It is identical to some pieces found in the gardens of the National Palace of Queluz, highlighting its royal and aristocratic association.
