An antique Japanese, Meiji era, Silver wire enamel vase attributed to Hayashi Kodenji, Japanese, 1831 to 1915. Circa 1900s. The baluster form vase is enameled with polychrome images of butterflies made in the Cloisonne technique on a black ground. The base and the neck of the ware are adorned with a geometrical motif on a green ground made in the same technique. Unmarked. Hayashi Kodenji was a pivotal figure in the history of Cloisonne enamel manufacturer.
