About the Item
An exquisite early 20th century Chinese cloisonné miniature vase, showcasing meticulous craftsmanship and vibrant decorative detail. This bulbous-form vase is adorned with alternating panels of intricate floral motifs and butterflies, each section bordered with delicate enamel scrollwork and symbolic patterns. The color palette features rich tones of cobalt blue, turquoise, jade green, deep red, white, and gold, all applied over a copper or bronze toned body.
The piece is raised on three brass ball feet, each surrounded by cloisonné rosettes, and the base is finished with an elaborate micro-mosaic of fine wirework in a floral design — a hallmark of high-quality cloisonné from the late Qing to early Republic period (circa 1900 1930) The interior and neck are finished in deep blue enamel, with minor oxidation visible along the inner rim, consistent with age.
This miniature vessel likely served a decorative or altar purpose and reflects the enduring symbolism of nature and harmony in Chinese art. The butterfly, a symbol of joy and longevity, and the repeated flower motits - including lotus and chrysanthemum forms- emphasize prosperity and resilience Minor wear pictured Vintage condition consistent with age as pictured.
