Bisque Porcelain and Gilt Bronze Vase 19th century 4 Seasons Putti Allegory

About the Item

Empire Vase (Tazza) produced in bisque porcelain by top level manufacture, possibly in Germany or France, in the second half of the 19th century and decorated with finely crafted fine gilt bronze details. Great allegory represented by four putti, each symbolizing a different season: The figure of the "Shepherd" embodies Spring, the time of awakening and renewal of nature after a long winter sleep; The figure of Summer, depicted with an armful of wheat, personifies the fruits of labor and abundance; Autumn is represented by the figure of the "Hunter", focusing on harvesting and storing up supplies in preparation for the long winter months; Finally, figure of Winter, represented as a poor man, conveys the feeling of scarcity and cold that complete the cyclical circle of the year. The aesthetic appeal of this vase lies in the harmonious interaction of texture, color and materials, which together present us with its unique architectural composition.
