Blue and Green PAte de verra vase by Erich Schamschula
About the Item
Eric Schamschula (1925-2004) was born in Czechoslovakia to a family of musicians. He lived in Normandy from 1948 and was employed as a glass decorator before starting his own business in 1953. He was a model designer at the Riedel glassworks in Vienna in the 1970s and 1980s. Eric Schamschula then developed a secret technique for working with glass paste. During this time, he also enjoyed forging monumental pieces. Schamschula's works are in the collections of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Musée du Verre de Sars-Poteries, Rosenthal in Selb, Germany, and numerous private collections. He has exhibited in Paris, Lillebonne, Strasbourg, Nantes, Toulon, and Antibes for France, as well as in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, and Japan.
