About the Item

A vintage Kangxi-style Chinese vase, crafted in China around the latter half of the twentieth century, around the 1960s. The substantial porcelain vase was created in the 'Hu' shape, with a thick, bulbous body that extends upwards and transitions into a tight neck and gently sloping lipped edge. Each side is adorned with a pair of exquisite porcelain dragon handles glazed in a demure and earthy pink hue. The body is decorated with a fenghuang (pheonix) sitting amongst a sea of blossoming peony blooms. Perfectly realised in a fine selection of brilliant enamels: pink, lavender, yellow, blue, emboldened with deep green foliage, and set atop an underglazed luminous white porcelain. A modern interpretation of a Kangxi-style porcelain piece, decorated with a symbolic scene that represents femininity, grace, virtue, and the union of Yin and Yang.
