About the Item
The wonderful painterly quality of this rare and book credited vintage Italian Dino Martens vase has the brilliant red base background. The crushed painterly glass overlay has texture. It is like an abstract painting. The sides are cinched. The rich colors of yellow, green and blue cascade down the entire vase. The pinched in dimples at the bottom add interest. It has very nice inclusions. The opening at the top for flowers is 3.75" W. This vase is featured in one of the Dino Martens books entitled Dino Martens by Mark Heiremans. The publication is German and the publisher is Arnolesche. There were a few volumes. This is a very hard and expensive book to find. This vase also has been seen in Domus Magazine although we are not sure of what issue it was. The red base background is more rare than the blue background. This was done in a wood burning oven as opposed to gas. It is from the 1950s and purchased in Italy at that time. This is a beautiful object of glass. No one blows glass like this anymore.
