Double Handle Japanese Bronze Vase After Edo Period

About the Item

A rare style of Japanese Edo Period Vase . Cast in lost wax bronze with an unique greenish patina finish . Larger size at 21" wide and 12" height . About 13 1/2" across and with a 8 1/2" dia flared base . See details in the photos . It was found in a local Antique shop in Los Angeles a long time ago and kept in a private collection .Has the standard Spiral designs on front and back . Also described as flying handles . Has a good weight of 30 pounds . Heavy to pack .

This porcelain double gourd vase is a wonderful decorative object realized by a Japanese artist during the Edo period in the early 19th century. Painted with polychrome enamels, it shows on the body a bottom with alveoli on which Stand circular reserves decorated with real and fantastic animals seems to reproduce the zodiac signs. Furthermore, the original blanket is decorated with small sloping triangles and three bands with geometric and floral decorations. At the center of the base "Kutani Fuku" the relief mark.
