Garrafa No. II vase by Camila Apaez One of a kind Materials: Stoneware Dimensions: 16 x 8 x 16 cm. Glaze: Buttermilk Other options: White bone, chocolate, charcoal black, glossy, spotted gray, pale opal, nube, glossy. This year has been shaped by the topographies of our homes and the uncertainty of our time. We have found solace in the humbleness of silence and warmth in the light that glared through our windows. We walked through the night, stumbled upon our sleeplessness and were also mesmerized by all our unanswered questions and inconformities. From the intimacy of our bedrooms and living rooms, from the privacy of our own anxieties and fears, we have been transformed. Let the escence of the pause, parenthesis and silence that rose among turmoil, permate our innermost places forever on. In memory of the times that have not yet ended, but with our sight posed on the space that is yet to open wide, we share with you our last impulse to create new landscapes for our home. Ila Ceramica emerged from a process of inner inquiry where ceramics became a space for presence, silence, touch and patience. Camila discovered the shapes that inhabit her in an organic and intuitive manner, leading her to continuous research and development of material, processes, and also herself. What began as a silent personal journey, has turned into a place where poetry, nature and corporeal silhouettes meet as constant themes in Ila´s creative process. The conversations between the pottery wheel and manual construction derive into utilitarian and sculptural pieces, hosted in two main lines of work: “Centrifuga”: functional ware for everyday life, and “Manual”: sculptural pieces that, while still functional, highlight their presence and their own dialogue with space, a constant theme for reflection in Ila. Ila Ceramica is a small studio with 100% handcrafted creative processes; glaze and clay research is slow and thorough, and no casts are used. Although pieces can be made Based Upon previous designs, each piece has its own personality.
