Korean very old baked earthenware jar/Excavation/Large flower vase

About the Item

We have just received a shipment of very old Korean pottery. It's by far the largest size of any I've ever purchased. It is 40 cm in diameter and 46.5 cm in height. This earthenware excavated in Korea is believed to be from the 9th century or earlier. It must have been made in a country called Baekje or Silla during the period when Korea was divided into several countries (the Three Kingdoms period). Kingdoms period, began to be fired at high temperatures around the middle of the 4th century. Firing at high temperatures of over 1000 degrees Celsius makes the pottery harder and more resistant to cracking. The color of the pottery is light or dark gray. When tapped with a finger, it makes a metallic sound. It was used for practical purposes, ritual vessels, and also as burial objects for powerful people. A similar item was published in the art book, so the photo is posted as a reference material. Originally, there was a pedestal as shown in this photo, and it is possible that this vase was placed on top of it. For this reason, this vase does not stand on its own, so I made a simple thin pedestal. Also, I put about 1/4 of water in it and left it for about 12 hours, but there was no leakage. However, the area circled in red is slightly soaked with water and the color is discolored. If it dries, the color will return to its original color and there is no problem. If you leave it in water for more than 2 days, it may get wet. Please be careful. Also, there is a red circle on the mouth, and there is a crack here. But don't worry about it breaking. A large size like this is often broken, but it can be said that this one is in good condition. It has a powerful effect, so why not try decorating it in your entrance or living room?
