About the Item

A pair of antique Japanese Meiji Era wireless cloisonne or musen shippo vases. The vases have a light blue ground with a landscape depicting Mount Fuji on one vase and a landscape with distant mountains and flying birds on the other. Both vases have a similar shape, with a rounded body and a slender neck. In musen shippo technique, the wires are removed after the initial firing, creating a smooth, uninterrupted surface of enamel. This style, developed in the late 19th century, is prized for its fluid and naturalistic appearance. Antique and Vintage Asian and Oriental Enamel Vases, Table Wares, Home Decor, and Collectibles.
