About the Item
A stunning and impressive large Italian Murano attributed battuto design brown glass vase in the style of Carlo Scarpa and probably dating from around 1950 or earlier. The large hand-crafted vase stands raised on a thick cylindrical foot with a wide cylindrical shaped body narrowing rounded shoulder and short raised round opening. The vase, made in brown tinted glass has a dark brown overlay which has been slice cut around the body to form a translucent effect honeycomb (battuto) pattern. The vase is not marked and has a roughly and irregular polished finish to the base with some natural irregularities in the making. The vase is not marked.

In good condition with wear associated with age and use and few small marks to the body including some natural making defects. Wear to the foot rim consistent with age.
