A pair of tin-glazed polychrome covered vases with foo dog finials, each topped with whimsical blue and white animal finials. The hand painted decoration wraps around in bright cobalt, red, and green, depicting figural scenes framed by flowers, foliage, and chinoiserie-inspired motifs. Each panel tells a story, drawing the eye around the octagonal form. The lids lift to reveal generous interiors, whether displayed together or split up across a room, these bring playful color and character. Circa 1920.
