About the Item

Beautiful Murano hand blown Sommerso navy blue Italian art glass flower vase. Documented to designer Paolo Venini for the Venini Company, circa 1950s. It is fully signed with the "Venini Murano Italia" 3 line acid etched mark underneath, and inside the circular concave pontil mark. The texture is created by very thin horizontal cuts to the glass, creating a unique pattern. The technique called "Inciso". The piece has tapered front and back, with rounded sides, giving the vase some shoulders. Unusual, drinking flask shape. Would make a great display piece on any desk, vanity or side table. Mid-century era. A great find for the Venini collector. Measures: 6" tall x 4 3/4" across shoulders x 3 1/2" wide. Literature: Venini Glass: Catalogue 1921-2007, Deboni, illustrate series. Murano Glass - Themes and Variations (1910-1970), by Marc Heiremans, page 133 illustrates technique
