Persimmon Orange Tapered Plum Vase

About the Item

This large tapered vase reinterprets the classic curves of traditional Chinese ceramics with simplified lines and a bright, persimmon-orange glaze. Sculpted by artisans in China's Zhejiang province, the vase has an impressive sculptural form with broad, rounded shoulders that taper towards a narrowed base. This curving form is a modern variation of the traditional meiping form, also known as a plum vase. Two subtle raised bands encircle the vase where three separate pieces were conjoined.
