Rare Pair of Large Bitossi Archaeological Series Vases, circa 1980

About the Item

Rare Pair of Large vases by Bitossi from a short lived series called the archaeological series which was from the early 1980s. The finish on the vases is done in a surface called scavo which is made to look like ancient pottery. The rams heads on the sides of the vases are very neoclassical and reminiscent of pieces done by Judy Kensley McKie mixed with Diego Giacometti. I've found the same vase with duck head handles that was signed but definitely made by the same hand. A pair of these vases at this scale would've been very expensive new and is now a rare survivor set.
