About the Item

Hand-blown studio glass vase, signed and dated ’86 to the underside (signature illegible; see macro photos). The organic drop-form rises to a flattened “mushroom” lip, while an iridized surface throws shifting tones of gold/amber, green and soft pink. Speckled and striated inclusions animate the skin, giving depth and a painterly, almost “oil-slick” effect. Aesthetically, the piece sits in the lineage of historic iridescent glass: it recalls the shimmering Papillon and marbled décors by Loetz and related Bohemian houses such as Kralik and Rindskopf, as well as American luster traditions—Tiffany Favrile, Quezal, and Steuben Aurene. Made in 1986, it reflects the Studio Glass revival of reduction-fired lusters, translating those early-20th-century innovations into a contemporary, sculptural silhouette. At 25 cm tall, the scale is ideal for shelves, consoles, or credenzas—reading as a small sculpture as much as a vase. Condition: very good vintage condition with light shelf-wear to the base only; no chips, cracks, or repairs observed. Details Artist/Maker: Unknown studio artist (illegible signature), dated 1986 Materials: hand-blown glass with iridized (luster) finish Colors: gold/amber, green, pearly pink highlights Comparable: Loetz (Papillon, marbled décors), Kralik, Rindskopf; Tiffany Favrile, Quezal, Steuben Aurene Measurements Height: 25 cm (9.8 in) Diameter (max): 12 cm (4.7 in)
